BROOKLINE, Mass.— Freshman
Olivia Penn scored her first career goal, but the Northeastern women's soccer team fell to the College of Charleston Cougars, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field.
- Junior goalkeeper Eliza Teplow posted two big saves for Northeastern in the first ten minutes to keep the game level.
- Penn opened the scoring with her first career goal to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Penn blasted home a ball from outside the box after graduate student Bridget Gleason played it up to earn her first assist in an NU uniform.
- The Cougars managed to equalize in the 29th minute. The two sides went into the half tied at 1-1.
- In the second half, Charleston took a 2-1 lead with its second goal off a corner in the 66th minute. The Cougars managed to keep the Huskies at bay and claimed the 2-1 victory.
- Teplow finished her day in goal with eight saves.
Northeastern next hosts Drexel on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. at Parsons Field.
