NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Northeastern men's hockey team battled until the final seconds of overtime before falling to UMass, 3-2, on Friday night at Mullins Center.
Senior
Austen May broke the scoreless tie at 9:49 of the second period, capitalizing on a hustle play by junior
Dylan Hryckowian, who collected the puck and fed freshman
Amine Hajibi in front. Hajibi slid it into the slot where May buried the one-timer to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead, while Hryckowian's assist marked his 100
th career point.
Before the second period concluded, UMass answered with two goals to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Hryckowian tallied his second point of the night with the game-tying goal just 4:26 into the third period. Hajibi delivered another strong feed to the point for senior
Vinny Borgesi, who fired it down to Hryckowian in the faceoff circle for a one-timer that knotted the game at 2-2 and forced overtime.
Despite sold offensive chances, the Minutemen sealed the 3-2 victory with a goal in the final 21 seconds of overtime.

Lawton Zacher made 24 saves in 64:39 minutes of action, while sophomore
Jack Henry and junior
Tyler Fukakusa each recorded two blocks and Hajibi led with a game-high ten shots.
The Huskies face a quick turnaround as they prepare for the semifinal round of the 73
