BOSTON — Northeastern men's soccer (5-3-2, 2-2-1 CAA) earned three much-needed points in Coastal Athletic Association play Saturday night, defeating Drexel (5-5-1, 2-3-0 CAA), 2-1, at Parsons Field.
- Northeastern took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute when Julian Blalock scored his first career goal, finishing off an assist from Uba Ibeanu to give the Huskies the lead heading into halftime.
- Drexel leveled the match in the 53rd minute, on a headed ball off the cross.
- The Huskies regained the lead in the 64th minute when Ethan Leary scored his first career goal, converting a pass from Jaden Prado to put Northeastern back in front, 2-1.
- Northeastern's defense held the lead over the final 27 minutes, with goalkeeper Brady Elmblad making two saves on the night. The Dragons earned three second-half corner kicks but could not find an equalizer.
- With the victory, Northeastern improved to 4-0-1 at Parsons Field this season, remaining unbeaten at home. The Huskies also avenged an earlier 4-3 loss to Drexel in Philadelphia on Sept. 12, earning three important points in the CAA standings.
- Both Northeastern goals came from players off the bench after late first half substitutions.
Northeastern returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 6, hosting Harvard at Parsons Field at 6 p.m.
