BOSTON— Freshman
Emy McDermid scored the game-winning goal in double overtime of the Hockey East Quarterfinals to send the No. 5 and top-seeded Northeastern women's hockey team past the eighth-seeded Boston University Terriers, 2-1, on Saturday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

With the win, Northeastern advances to the Hockey East Semifinals against the No. 6 Vermont Catamounts.
- Making her return, sophomore Éloïse Caron potted the first goal of the game at the 4:32 mark of the first period. Caron's tally put the Huskies ahead 1-0 and was assisted by senior Jules Constantinople.
- In the second period, Boston University equalized with a shorthanded goal to bring the score to 1-1.
- Neither side could break through in regulation and the game went to its first overtime with the score tied at 1-1. Per playoff rules, overtime is 20-minute periods of five-on-five play until someone scores.
- The first overtime also ended scoreless, and the second overtime began. Just 1:14 into the second OT, McDermid finally ended the game with her second goal of the season. McMermid's goal was assisted by seniors Kristina Allard and Lily Shannon.
- Sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson posted 39 saves in her 19th win of the season. Â
The Huskies will next play Vermont on Tuesday, March 3 in the Hockey East Semifinals at 6 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.Â
