Borgesi Tabbed Semifinalist For 74th Walter Brown Award

BOSTON -- Senior captain Vinny Borgesi of the Northeastern men's hockey team was named a semifinalist for the 74th Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born Division I college hockey player in New England. He is one of only four defensemen to be bestowed the honor.

Appearing in all 25 games this season, Borgesi ranks third in scoring for the Huskies with 18 points from four goals and 14 assists, while leading with 49 blocks. In conference play among all Hockey East defensemen, he ranks second with ten assists (third among all skaters), third with 12 points and sixth with 29 blocks. For the second-straight year, he paces the nation in time on ice, averaging 27:37 minutes. Borgesi is a two-time Hockey East Defender of the Week during the 2025-26 season.

A first-time semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, Borgesi has 15 goals and 63 assists for 78 points in 124 career games for Northeastern.

The Walter Brown Award is presented annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and is the nation's oldest nationally recognized college hockey honor. The winner will be announced at the 74th annual Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Awards Dinner this spring.

Borgesi and the Huskies are back in action this Friday, Feb. 6 as they host UConn at Bentley Arena for a 7 p.m. puckdrop.
