Jönsson Announced As Semifinalist For Goalie Of The Year

BOSTON—  Sophomore Lisa Jönsson of the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Women's Goalie of the Year Award as announced by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association on Friday.

Jönsson is one of 12 goalies from four NCAA Division I conferences that have advanced from a "Watch List" of 31 outstanding netminders. Voting was conducted by a national panel of coaches, administrators and media members.

This marks the second-straight year that Jönsson has been named a semifinalist for the Goalie of the Year award. She owns a 16-4-1 record with a .934 save percentage and 1.71 GAA. Her 16 wins rank tied for fifth in the NCAA, while her four shutouts are tied for eighth.

Jönsson continues the Husky legacy of having a Northeastern goaltender make the semifinalist round each year since the award's inception in 2021. Aerin Frankel won the award in 2021 and 2022, while Gwyneth Philips took home the honor in 2023. The Huskies are one of just two schools in the nation that have had a semifinalist every year of the award.

Three finalists will be announced during the conference championships and the winner will be announced during this year's NCAA Frozen Four in State College, Pa.
