BURLINGTON, Vt.— Junior
Allie Lalonde scored the game-winner in overtime to deliver the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team a 3-2 victory over Vermont and clinch the 2025-26 Hockey East Regular Season Title on Saturday evening at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
With the win, Northeastern now owns the No. 1 seed in the Hockey East Tournament. It marks Northeastern's first Hockey East Regular Season Crown since the 2022-23 season.
- Freshman Emy McDermid opened the scoring with her first career goal at the 14:21 mark of the first period. McDermid buried home a pass from senior Lily Brazis after freshman Stryker Zablocki dug the puck out from behind the net. The Huskies took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
- With just over two minutes remaining in the second, Vermont evened the score at 1-1. The two sides would head into the third with the score all knotted up.
- Sophomore Éloïse Caron put Northeastern back ahead, 2-1, at the 14:19 mark of the third period. Caron's 13th goal of the season was assisted by Zablocki and senior Lily Shannon.
- Vermont would push the game to overtime after tying the game at 2-2 with 27.4 seconds remaining and its goaltender pulled in favor of the extra-attacker.
- In overtime, Lalonde won the puck by herself and put it past the Catamounts' goaltender to deliver Northeastern a 3-2 overtime victory. It is the Huskies first OT win since Feb. 14, 2025.
- Sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson posted 36 saves in her 17th victory of the season.
The Huskies will next travel to face Boston University on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
