CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Northeastern men's rowing team kicked off the 2026 season with victories in the first and second varsity boats at Penn. The victory in the 1V returns the Burk Cup to Henderson Boathouse for the 31st time in series history, and seventh time in the last eight meetings.
It was a day of tight racing, with all races decided by one second on the Cooper River.
The Cup was placed into competition in 1970 by "Friends of Pennsylvania Rowing" to honor Joseph Burk, a member of Penn crew from 1931 to 1934 and coach of the Quakers from 1950 to 1969.
The Huskies will be back in action next weekend when Northeastern travels to Sarasota, Fla. for the IRA Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park. The two-day event will feature competition against some of the top crews in the nation in Harvard, Yale, Washington, Stanford and Brown.
