Sarney Concludes Season At NCAA East First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Northeastern track and field graduate student Kyle Sarney doned the Husky uniform one last time Friday evening, taking on the 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA East First Round.

Sarney raced in the second heat of the steeplechase, where he crossed the line in seventh with a time of 13.66, finishing 18th overall. He was the highest-placing runner from the CAA in the event.

Racing for Northeastern since 2021, he leaves behind a decorated career. A three-time NCAA East First Round qualifier from North Easton, Massachusetts, he leaves Northeastern as one of the most accomplished distance runners in program history. This season, he recorded a personal-best 8:41.67 in the 3000m steeplechase and ranks among the Huskies' all-time leaders with the third-fastest steeplechase mark, tied for fifth in the 1500m, and eighth in the indoor mile. A two-time CAA Indoor Champion, three-time CAA Outdoor Champion, and a 2021 CAA Cross Country Champion, he concluded his career with five conference championship medals, including four golds and one silver.

Kyle and the Huskies wrap up a memorable season that featured personal records, all-time program marks, and standout performances at the conference competition.
