2009: Sat 5 seat earning a 10th place finish at Eastern Sprints and ninth place finish at IRA's in the 1st Freshman 8+.

2010: Sat 3 seat at Eastern Sprints and 2 seat at IRA's earning a ninth place finish at both events in the 1st Varsity 8+.

2011: Sat 6 seat at Eastern Sprints in the 1st Varsity 8+, and bow earning eighth place at IRA's in the Varsity 4+

Before NU: Along with being a four year high school varsity rower for the Wyandotte Boat Club, Matt played football, basketball and swam at Gibralter Carlson High School. His best finishes included fifth place at Scholastic Nationals in the Varsity Heavyweight 1x in 2008, two second place finishes at Canadian Henley in the Men's U19 Heavyweight 2- in 2007 and 2008, fifth in the U23 1x at Canadian Henley in 2009, sixth in the Senior 1x, second in the Senior 8+, fifth in the U23 2- at Canadian Henley in 2011.

Personal: Matt is a criminal justice major pursuing a bachelors degree with a minor in psychology. He enjoys rowing, cycling and swimming. Future goals include going to law school and becoming  a member of the US National Rowing team. He is the middle child of Michael, a student at University of Michigan Dearborn, and Cynthia Schanck, a student at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute.
