2011-12: Indoors, won the long jump at the Tiger Open with a mark of 6.92m and placed second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.69…placed ninth in the long jump at the Great Dane Classic with a mark of 69.8m…ran a 6.68 to place seventh in the finals of the 55-meter dash and placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.93m at the Joe Donahue Games…placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.97m, placed seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.85m, and finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.19 at the Battle of Beantown… Outdoors, took second in the long jump at the Shamrock Invitational with a distance of 7.31m…placed 19th in the 100-meter dash at the Northeastern Spring Open with a time of 11.79 and won the high jump with a leap of 1.98m…finished seventh at the Florida Relays in the long jump with a mark of 7.15m…won the high jump at the Solomon Invitational with a mark of 1.98m…placed fourth in the long jump at the Larry Ellis Invitational with a mark of 7.27m...won the high jump at the CAA Championship with a mark of 2.04m and placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.34m...finished sixth at the New England Outdoor Championship in the high jump, clearing 7.37m


2010-11: Indoors, jumped 6.89m (22’7.25) to place fourth in the long jump at the Jay Carisella Invitational, an event in which he was out-distanced only by fellow Huskies, who also grabbed the top three spots…took sixth in the high jump at the Harvard Open with a jump clearing 1.94m (6’4.25)…his long jump of 6.95m (22’9.75) earned him second place at the Dartmouth Relays; also grabbed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.98m (6’6)…missed the top spot in the long jump by just a centimeter at the Boston Indoor Games, his jump of 7.22m (23’8.25) taking second place; also placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.98m (6’6)…won the high jump at the Battle of Beantown, clearing 2.01m (6’7) in an event in which the Huskies took the top two spots; also took second in the long jump with a leap of 7.18m (23’6.75); the jump would have eclipsed the meet record, set last year by Husky teammate Adrian Li, were it not for another Husky, Kaylin Miranda, who won the event to share the podium with Staples; his triple jump of 13.19m (43’3.25) earned him fifth place…led three Huskies in the top six with a second-place finish in the long jump at the New England Indoor Championships, with a leap of 7.05m (23’1)…won the IC4A long jump with a leap of 7.20m (23’7.50)…Outdoors, his long jump of 7.01m (23’) earned second place at the Seahawk Invitational; also, took fourth place in the high jump with a leap clearing 1.88m (6’2), and his 11.31 in the 100 meters placed him 16th…earned another fourth place in the high jump at the FSU Relays with a leap of 7.21m (23’8)…claimed fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.80m (22’3.75) at the Duke Invitational; also finished 12th in the high jump by clearing 1.94m (6’4)…posted the winning mark in the high jump by clearing 1.93m (6’4) at the Solomon Invitational; also sprinted to an eighth place in the 100 meter with a time of 11.39…was the runner-up in the long jump after clearing 7.23m along with turning in a sixth-place effort in the high jump (1.94) at the 2011 CAA Championship…earned another second-place postseason finish at the 2011 New England Outdoor Championship, clearing 7.29m in the long jump

2009-10: Indoors, tied for 11th in the high jump with a mark of 1.88m at the Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational…claimed 28th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.36 at the Harvard open…Seized victory at the Dartmouth Relays with a high jump of 2.03m…Leaped to victory in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m and a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a vault of 6.50m at the Harvard Invitational…claimed victory in the long jump with a leap of 6.88m (27’7) and took third in the high jump after clearing 1.98m (6’6) at the Boston Indoor Games…nailed a 2.07m clearance to win the high jump and cleared 6.91m in the long jump for second place at the Battle of Beantown…earned a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.07m and finished 12th in the high jump (1.94m) at the New England Championship…Outdoors, leapt to a third-place finish in the high jump (1.95m) and 10th in the long jump (6.55m) at the Seahawk Invitational…leaped to victory in both the high jump (1.98m) and long jump (7.00m) at the Husky Spring Open…surged to an 11th-place finish in the high jump (1.95m) and earned a 13th-place finish in the long jump (6.99m) at the Raleigh Relays…tasted victory in the long jump with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 7.40m at the Wildcat Invitational, good enough for fifth-place all-time in the NU annals…captured a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 7.14m and finished 15th in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m at the Sea Rays Relays…became Northeastern’s second-ever conference high jump champion after clearing 1.99m as well as recorded a second-place leap of 7.42m in the long jump, fifth best in NU history, at the CAA Championship…won his second-consecutive event in the postseason, becoming Northeastern’s first New England Outdoor long jump champion since Isaiah Gregg captured the title in 2004 with a mark of 7.38m (24’2.5)…claimed sixth in the long jump with a measure of 7.36m (24’1.74) at the IC4A Championship; also competed in the high jump but did not record a mark…concluded his first-career NCAA Championship appearance with a 32nd-place showing of 7.23m (23’8.75) in the long jump in the preliminary round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

2008-09: Indoors, cleared 6'4 to place sixth in the high jump at the Boston Indoor Games...redshirted the outdoor season.

2007-08: In his first collegiate meet, cleared 6'2 to place third in the high jump and took eighth in the long jump (21'7.25) at the Husky Winter Carnival...second in the high jump (6'6) at the Dartmouth Relays...third in the high jump (6'2) at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games...second in the long jump (21'6.75) and fourth in the 200 (23.19) at the Battle of Beantown...ninth in both the high jump (6'4) and long jump (21'9.5) at the Valentine's Invitational...fifth in the high jump (6'6.25) at the New England Championship...outdoors, took third in the high jump (6'6), sixth in the long jump (21'6) and 24th in the 200 (23.38) at the Seahawk Invitational...second in the high jump (6'6) and fourth in the long jump (20'10) at the Stonehill Invitational...third in the high jump (6'6.75) and 14th in the long jump (21'0) at the CAA Championship...third in the high jump (6'6.75) at the Patriot Open Invitational.

High School: Competed on the track & field team for three years...set school records in the high jump (6'7), long jump (23'2) and triple jump (41'8)...won the New England Championship in the long jump and placed fourth in the high jump in 2007, earning the first New England title in school history...first-team All-State in the high jump and long jump after winning state titles in both events...named first-team All-Division in soccer...scored the second-most goals in state history (23).

Personal: Born Aug. 16, 1988...plans to major in Athletic Training...enjoys hunting, archery and rock-climbing...Class of 2012.
