Solomon Outdoor Track Summary & History
Surrounded by towering pines and sparkling brooks, Northeastern University's outdoor track facility is New England's finest.
Nestled in nearby Dedham, it is home to one of the region's most successful track programs. The bucolic facility was dedicated Bernard and Jolane Solomon Track, in honor of University trustee/benefactor Bernard "Bunny" Solomon and his wife, on May 17, 1986 at the 99th running of the New England Track Championships.
The Solomon track and field facility is the perfect site for dual meet and championship competition. It is within jogging range of the University's Boston-based track athletes and is the permanent practice site for the Huskies' outdoor meets. With the track's opening in 1986, Northeastern reaffirmed its commitment to serve the greater Boston and New England collegiate and scholastic track fraternity with an accessible, quality facility.
Features of the track include an eight-lane, Action Track 200 running surface and an expansive area for all jumping and throwing events, which allow for shot, hammer, discus, and javelin events to take place concurrently. For the purpose of workouts and varsity championship competition, the track is an easy target from the main campus and all compass points within the metropolitan area.
The Solomon Track is also located within an earshot of Route 128/95, which connects traffic from northern, southern, and central New England states.
