NU sixth in CAA Championship

The Northeastern University men's cross country team placed sixth at the CAA Championship on Saturday at Bull Run Park in Centreville, Va. The Huskies were led by Teddy Vrountas, who placed 18th in a time of 25:27.
"Teddy [Vrountas] had a good race despite feeling ill and I was very happy with the way Sebastian Putzeys ran," said Northeastern distance coach Renny Waldron. "We didn't have three of our top five from last season back here today and we still improved our team placing, so I have to be happy with that."
Freshman Sebastian Putzeys was the second Husky to cross the finish line, placing 39th with a time of 26:24. Joe Siravo had one of his best races wearing a Northeastern uniform, taking 47th in 27:06. Northeastern's top five was rounded out by Dan Clayton (59th in 27:38) and Bryan Brunelli (60th in 27:43).
Northeastern's sixth-place finish was its best since joining the Colonial Athletic Association prior to the 2005 season.
Northeastern finishes the season by competing in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Nov. 15 at Van Courtlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
