The Huskies crushed the competition on Feb. 8 to take home the Greater Boston Championship at MIT. Captain Vinny Tortorella posted an automatic qualifier of 70'1 in the weight throw while breaking his own NU record in the event. Tortorella also took second in the shot put. Bryan McCants was a double winner as he took the 55 hurdles and 400. Sophomore Derek Anderson won the shot put with a throw of 57'11.75, just off the NCAA standard, and also took third in the weight throw. Freshman Dave Wilkes cleared 15'0 in the pole vault to lead the Huskies in sweeping the top five spots in the event. NU's other winners were Bismark Osei in the 55 at and Idris Payne in the 200.
