Northeastern won the New England Championship with 107.5 points on Saturday at Solomon Track in Dedham. URI took second with 86.5 points over Williams (59) and UMass-Lowell took fourth (58). It was the NU's first title since 1992. Paul Klemic won two events for the Huskies, outdistancing the long jump field on Friday with a leap of 24'7 and winning the 110 hurdles in 14.24 seconds on Saturday. Derek Anderson won the discus on Saturday to follow up his second-place effort in the shot put on Friday. Vinny Tortorella blew out the competition in the hammer on Friday with a throw of 209'0 and took third in the discus on Saturday. Bryan McCants was a winner for the Huskies in the 400 hurdles and also placed in the 110 hurdles. Wes Shaw took second in the pole vault in his final New England Championship, clearing a season-best 15'9. Adam Crossman took third in the javelin with a huge personal-best.
