The Northeastern Athletics Video Production Department provides hands on experience to those looking to break into the video production industry and get involved with collegiate athletics. Students will learn technical skills using professional broadcast equipment. GoNUxstream broadcasts have been picked up live by networks such as WBIN, NESN, and ESPN. These broadcasts generate significant exposure for the university while also providing students a unique oportunity to be a part of collegiate athletics and the video production industry.
Athletics –Video Production Assistant
Description:
Athletics Video Production Assistants work in all aspects of the in-house video production at Northeastern athletics
venues, creating and distributing content for live online streaming at all venues and for the center-hung video board at Matthews Arena.
Video Production Assistants work during Northeastern home Men’s and Women’s Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, Baseball games, Men’s and Women’s Rowing events, Swimming & Diving meets, Field Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Soccer games and Volleyball games.
Video Production Assistants perform the following tasks:
Switcher Operator – Operate the video switcher, assigning video, graphics and animation content to the video board.
Replay Operator – Operate the instant replay machine.
Audio Operator – Operate the audio playback and mixing board. Camera Operator – Operate professional broadcast video cameras.
Graphics Operator – Operate graphics system for in game and promotional content.
All Video Production Assistants perform the above tasks, rotating on a game-by-game basis. All Video Production Assistants receive technical training for the video production equipment, as well as training for coordinating a video production in sports venues.
Requirements:
Candidates should have an interest in video production and a basic knowledge of sporting events. Experience with video production, post-production editing and graphic design is a plus.
Candidates should be available to attend training sessions during weekdays and weekends in September, as well as be available to work during home games throughout the season.
Athletics – In-Game Broadcast Video Camera Operator
Description:
Athletics Broadcast Video Camera Operators operate professional tripod-mounted and shoulder-mounted video camera during on-campus athletics events. The video content from the cameras is streaming live online (for all games) and displayed on the center-hung video board (for Matthews Arena games).
Camera Operators work during Northeastern home Men’s and Women’s Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, Baseball games, Men’s and Women’s Rowing events, Swimming & Diving meets, Field Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Soccer games and Volleyball games.
All Camera Operators receive technical training on video production equipment, as well as training for shooting video in a sports venue.
Requirements:
Candidates should have an interest in video production. Previous experience with camera operation, and knowledge of college sports is a plus.
Athletics – Matthews Arena Audio Operator
Description:
Matthews Arena Audio Operators assist in the operation of all in-game audio elements within Matthews Arena. Audio Operators select songs for playback during hockey and basketball games, and monitor the broadcast audio mixing board for in-arena and online stream sound levels.
Matthews Arena Audio Operators work during home Men’s and Women’s Hockey games, and home Men’s Basketball games.
All Audio Operators receive technical training for professional audio equipment, as well as training for coordinating a full video production in college sports venues.
Requirements:
Matthews Arena Audio Operators should have an interest in arena game-day operations or in athletics marketing. Knowledge of hockey and basketball, and prior experience with audio production, are a plus.
Athletics – In-Game Sports Statistics Assistant
Description:
Northeastern Athletics Sports Statistics Assistants will work as part of the video production team, providing statistical information about athletics games. Stats Assistants will be charged with providing topical and relevant information during games, and then entering that information in to an on-screen graphics system live online video streams.
Stats Assistants will work closely with the on-air commentators, creating lower-third and full-screen graphics corresponding with the in-game play-by-play and color commentary.
Applicants should specify that sport(s) that you would like to work in their application.
All Stats Assistants will receive technical training on in-game graphics broadcast software, as well as training on using live video streaming software.
Requirements:
Candidates must have in-depth knowledge of the sport(s) that they would like to work. Interest in video production is a plus.

Athletics – On-Air Game Commentator
Description:
Northeastern Athletics On-Air Game Commentators will provide play-by-play, color commentary, and/or sideline reporting for home Huskies games. The announcers will describe the action on the field/ice/court, and provide information about specific players and plays.
The commentary will be streamed live to viewers on GoNUxstream, used for game highlights videos, and will be recorded for game archives.
On-Air Game Commentators work during Northeastern home Men’s and Women’s Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, Baseball games, Swimming & Diving meets, Field Hockey games, Men’s and Women’s Soccer games and Volleyball games.

Requirements:
Candidates should have an interest in college sports and have extensive knowledge of the specific sport that they wish to apply for. An interest in sports marketing and video production is a plus.
