Strength and Conditioning
The Northeastern University Strength and Conditioning department is a sophisticated blend of science, technology, and nutrition. Providing one-on-one attention to each student-athlete, our goals are to inspire Northeastern student-athletes to make a consistent daily commitment to the physical preparation necessary to play their sport at the highest level throughout their entire athletic careers and promote lifelong wellness. Student-athletes learn and benefit from numerous components that are not only critical to athletic success but are the very foundation of lifelong success. These components include strength training, speed development, power enhancement, improved agility, increased flexibility, optimal metabolic conditioning, and intrinsice motivation.

Program Objectives
 - To instruct athletes on how to execute resistance training exercises safely and correctly to obtain the desired results.
 - To develop individual programs to account for biochemical and physiological differences among individual athletes, taking into account their age, gender, training status, physical limitations and past injuries.
 - To recognize acute and chronic physical responses and adaptations to training and their implications for the design of sport-specific training programs.
 - To educate athletes on the importance of proper nutrition and its role in health and performance.
 - To educate athletes regarding the abuse and effects of performance-enhancing substances. Relevant school policy and state and federal law will be included.
 - To provide a facility that conforms to proper safety standards and functions conducive to effective training programs.

Expectations of Student-Athletes
Pre Participation Exam (PPE)
 - Athletes are expected to report for three examination dates each academic year.
 - Examination results will dictate individual programs, training level, progress and injury prevention programs.
Performance Testing
 - Athletes are asked to perform pre and post season performance testing each academic year.
 - Athlete are required to perform all tests contingent on PPE results and recommendations of the sports medicine staff.
 - All tests are evidence-based and in accordance University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) clinical standards.
Movement Minimums
 - Athletes must demonstrate proficiency movement patterns.
 - These patterns serve as the foundation of all our movements:
       Shoulder Packing
       Neutral Spine in Plank Position
       Hip Hinge with Neutral Spine
       Split Squat Get Up
       Ankle Dorsiflexion
       Proficient Breathing Patterns Â

Open Lift Times - Cabot Center
Monday: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Tuesday: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Wednesday: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Thursday: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday: 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
