Northeastern women's hockey alumnae Florence Schelling '12 and Julia Marty '11 will represent the Swiss National Team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, as announced Tuesday. Both players were named to the preliminary roster on Jan. 7, before the final selection was made on Jan. 21.

Both Schelling and Marty will be making their third Olympic appearances in 2014. The pair previously represented Switzerland at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy and the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Schelling started every game for the Swiss in 2010 and backstopped the team to a fifth-place finish. The Oberengstringen, Switzerland native turned away 45 shots against Canada in the group stage and stopped all 21 shots in a shutout of China in the fifth-place semifinal. Schelling then made 32 saves and denied two shootout attempts as Switzerland skated by Russia, 2-1, to claim fifth place.

A native of Nussbaumen, Switzerland, Marty was named an assistant captain in 2010 and registered one assist in five games as one of the team's top defensemen.

Drawn in Group A alongside Canada, Finland and the United States, Switzerland will open the Sochi Olympics against the Canadians on Feb. 8. The Swiss will then face Kendall Coyne, Hilary Witt and Team USA on Feb. 10, before wrapping up the first round against the Finns on Feb. 12.
