Joseph Bergin - 2015 Northeastern Athletics Varsity Club Hall of Fame Nominee

Joseph Bergin (class of 1988) was the co-captain of the men’s swimming team for two years and received the Herbert W. Gallagher Award as the top student-athlete at Northeastern. He held the 100 breaststroke, 400 medley and 400 freestyle relay records and competed in the finals at the New England Championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, 400 medley and 400 freestyle relay.   In 1986, he helped his team to a 9-3 record, including a ninth-place finish (out of 37 teams) at the New England Championships.   Bergin passed away in 1991.
