Mike McLaughlin

Former captain Mike McLaughlin enters his ninth season on the Northeastern hockey staff in 2022-23. He was promoted to assistant coach in June 2019 after spending five seasons as the director of hockey operations.

COACHING CAREER
  • Three seasons as assistant coach
  • 15 players drafted into the NHL
  • Three straight Beanpot Championships
  • Two Hockey East Championships
  • Four NCAA Tournament appearances
  • Led the penalty-kill unit, and finished the 2021-22 season fourth in the nation, first in Hockey East, killing 89.7% of penalties
  • Previously was responsible for the Video Analysis system
  • Worked in conjunction with Jeff O’Brien to coordinate and implement the Huskies Leadership Academy
  • Coordinated and implemented development opportunities for student-athletes

PLAYING CAREER
  • Four year letterwinner at Northeastern (2008-2012)
  • Totaled 46 points on 23 goals and 23 assists in 120 career games
  • Four-time Hockey East All-Academic Team
  • Hockey East Top Scholar-Athlete
  • 2012 Herbert Gallagher Award winner
