Sky Kerstein

Sky Kerstein was named Senior Assistant Director of Athletic Communications on Jan. 6, 2020 for Northeastern Athletics. Kerstein brings over 13 years of professional experience within the media relations industry and as a sports multi-media journalist.

Northeastern:
  • Created strategic relationships within the Boston media market including local TV, radio and print reporters
  • Produced video content and scripts for local television stations
  • Covered all sporting events at Northeastern while being main contact for Men's Hockey, Baseball, Field Hockey and Men's Soccer
  • Assisted in producing, interviewing and writing Tales of the Howlin' Huskies and the Howlin' Husky Awards on NESN
  • Pitched and coordinated two New England Hockey Journal cover stories while being a part of three overall
  • Helped facilitate multiple top 10 plays on ESPN's SportsCenter
  • Edited and produced video content for social media and website
  • Interviewed coaches and student-athletes for previews and post-game for all internal and external outlets including local TV stations
  • Oversight over media content in the department
  • Oversight over the communication staff in the department including the co-ops and interns
  • Oversee digital content for the website and social media platforms
  • In charge of scheduling staffing for communication staff and stats assistants for all Northeastern home events
  • Oversaw the interviewing and hiring of newly hired communication assistants and co-ops
Professional media experience prior to Northeastern:
  • Four years working for Detroit's WJBK-TV (Fox 2) as a sports producer and multimedia journalist (2015-19)
  • In charge of developing and updating all sports web/social media material on Fox2detroit.com and all FOX 2 social media channels
  • On-air multimedia reporter for the Washington Redskins in 2014
  • On-air sports TV analyst in Washington, D.C. (WUSA, NewsChannel 8, WTTG), reporting on local college and professional teams, including the Washington Capitals, Redskins, Nationals and Wizards (2009-2014)
  • Five years as a radio sports reporter, website manager and multimedia content producer for CBS Radio WJFK-106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. (2009-2014)
