Vaughn ‘Firelight’ Hommerding is the current League of Legends Coach for Northeastern University. Their responsibilities include hosting tryouts, setting up the team schedule, organizing and running practice, leading team video reviews, 1-on-1 student sessions, and more!
Personal:
- Graduated from Drake University with a degree in Music Education.
- Always enjoyed competing in Esports, but never had considered combining my professional career with one of my biggest hobbies. I began to gravitate more towards Esports as I started coaching League of Legends teams during quarantine back in 2020.
- I was drawn to NEU because of my experiences competing against as a rival player on another team. Knowing firsthand that the teams NEU fielded were competitive and talented made me confident that I could come to a program that wanted to succeed.
- I can play any instrument in a symphony orchestra (except the flute, too hard!) I’ve got a huge wall at home dedicated just to storing all my board games
- Obama wrote me a birthday card once
- I’m the only person with my name in the world!
