Julie Norton

 Julie Norton enters her eighth season on Roy Coates' staff and will serve as a volunteer assistant coach in 2011-12. Her help is vital to the Huskies’ hopes of challenging for a Colonial Athletic Association championship. Previously, Norton was head coach at Stoneham High and prior to that was head coach at Winchester High and assistant coach at Melrose High.

Norton attended the University of Miami (Fla.) on a swimming scholarship, specializing in the distance freestyle events. She was the 1995 Big East champion in the 1650-yard freestyle.

Originally from Stoneham, Mass., Norton attended Nazareth Academy. She competed at the national level for Bernals Gator Swim Club and the Fort Lauderdale Swim Team. She set the New England open age group record in the 1650 freestyle.

Norton earned her bachelor’s degree in English and master's degree in Education from Salem State College. She is also pursuing a second master's degree in School Counseling at Northeastern. She currently resides in Stoneham with her husband, Kevin, her daughter, Teagan, and her son, Jamison.
