Florence Schelling's Career Stats

2011-12: Named a Patty Kazmaier Top 3 Finalist; the unanimous Hockey East Player of the Year; a Hockey East First-Team All-Star; an ECAC All-New England selection; Bauer Goaltending Champion; Army ROTC Three Stars Award winner; the Joe Bertagna Award winner as the Beanpot's top goaltender; a two-time WHEA Goaltender of the Month; a seven-time WHEA Defensive Player of the Week; and a WHEA Pure Hockey Player of the Week...broke single-season program record for save percentage (.950)...broke career program records for minutes (5,878:40), goals against average (1.74), saves (2,681), and save percentage (.940)...her 2011-12 save percentage of .950 ranked first in the nation; her goals against average of 1.42 ranked second nationally; her eight shutouts were third in the country...won her first three starts of the year in home games against Syracuse, Colgate and Quinnipiac, giving up just three goals with 75 saves...finally suffered a loss at Princeton, making 7 saves in a 5-3 loss on Oct. 21...came back strong against Yale the next day, making 30 saves in a 7-0 shutout...proceeded to win her first five starts against Hockey East teams, starting with a 26-save win over Maine on Oct. 28 before twice shutting out UConn in consecutive 3-0 victories on Nov. 4-5; then gave up 3 combined goals with 60 saves in a weekend sweep at Vermont on Nov. 11-12...met her first two Hockey East defeats in a weekend home-and-home with Boston College on Nov. 17-18, losing by 3-1 and 4-1, respectively...lost her third in a row in a 4-3 defeat at Dartmouth, and would lose just one more game over the next three months...shut out Boston University with 32 saves in a 2-0 win on Nov. 30...made 20 saves in a 3-3 tie at New Hampshire on Dec. 3 before making 26 stops the next day as the Huskies defeated UNH, 5-1, at Matthews Arena...rounded out the fall semester with 29 saves in a 4-1 win over BU on Dec. 7...started the spring semester by helping the Huskies come from behind for a 2-1 victory over Providence on Jan. 15...took her first point off BC with 31 saves in a 1-1 tie at Conte Forum on Jan. 17...registered a 17-save shutout as NU routed New Hampshire, 8-0, in a game broadcasted on ESPN3 on Jan. 21...made 21 more saves the following afternoon to sweep the season series with Vermont, in a 5-1 decision...took her final regular-season loss of the season, making 36 saves in a 3-2 affair at BU...in the Beanpot semifinal on Jan. 31, made 35 saves in regulation and overtime, including a perfect 2/2 in the shootout, as the Huskies advanced to the Beanpot final, in a game that went down officially as a 1-1 draw...allowed her only two goals to UConn in three games this season, but defeated the Huskies, 3-2, with 20 saves on Feb. 4...made 43 saves in a spectacular Beanpot-winning performance, in a 4-3 overtime win on Feb. 7...gave up one goal combined over a weekend home series with Maine, winning 4-0 and 3-1, respectively, on Feb. 11-12...turned in her eighth shutout of the season with 38 saves in a 0-0 tie at Providence on Feb. 17...made 29 saves on Feb. 19 as NU defeated PC, 2-1, to win the WHEA Regular Season Championship...made 23 saves in a 2-0 WHEA Semifinal loss to the Friars on Mar. 3.

2010-11: Named to WHEA All-Tournament team as she posted one shutout and turned aside 101 shots in three tournament games, including 76 in the semifinals and finals...set WHEA tournament record with 24 saves in one period against BU on Mar. 5...also made 44 saves in the semifinal win against BU, which was a tournament recoerd until it was broken with a 58-save performance in the second semifinal of the day...named WHEA Goaltender of the Week on Feb. 28...stopped all 25 shots she faced to lead Huskies past UConn, 4-0, in WHEA quarterfinals...made 26 saves to preserve 3-3 tie against No. 4 BU in Beanpot consolation game on on Feb. 15...stopped season-high 39 shots in 2-1 win over St. Cloud State on Jan. 2...turned aside 37 shots and was named third star of the game in 3-0 loss at No. 5 BU on Dec. 7...made 22 saves for third shutout of the season against New Hampshire on Dec. 1...didn't allow a goal for 176:08 from Nov. 6-Nov. 12, notching two shutouts in that time frame...earned second-straight shutout by making 19 saves against Maine in 0-0 tie on Nov. 11...turned aside 34 shots to record first shutout of the season against Yale on Nov. 6...Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 25...made 25 saves apiece in wins over Princeton and RPI on Oct. 22 and 24...recorded first career point with assist on Stephanie Gavronsky's goal against Princeton on Oct. 22...earned first win of the season against Union on Oct. 2.

2009-10: Named a second-team All-American...New England Division I All-Star...top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award...named Hockey East Co-Player of the Year...Bauer Goaltending Champion in Hockey East...All-Hockey East first-team selection...seven-time Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week and two-time Bauer Goalie of the Month (Oct., Nov.)...posted a 30-save shutout against Robert Morris on Oct. 10...back-to-back shutouts over Vermont on Oct. 30-31, combining for 42 saves over the weekend...compiled a 6-1-1 record, a 0.74 GAA and a .970 save percentage in October...stopped 11 of 13 shootout attempts at Providence on Nov. 8...shutout Vermont for the third time Nov. 25 and made 30 stops vs. UNH on Nov. 29...led the nation with a 0.99 GAA and a 0.64 save percentage through December...started in the first-ever outdoor women's college hockey game Jan. 8 vs. UNH at Fenway Park...stopped 28 shots and all four shootout attempts at No. 4 UNH Jan. 20, helping NU take points from the Wildcats for the first time since the inception of Women's Hockey East...posted a 3-2 record at the 2010 Winter Olympics for Switzerland, compiling a .909 save percentage and a 3.18 GAA.

2008-09: Named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team...stopped 38 of 40 shots to help NU secure a 3-2 win over RPI Oct. 3...made 40 saves and earned first career shutout by holding Bemidji State scoreless through regulation and overtime on Oct. 10...Named Hockey East's Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 13...made 31 saves and earned second shutout of the season against Providence Oct. 18...Named Hockey East Mission Rookie of the Week Oct. 20...made 34 saves in a 2-0 loss to No. 6 New Hampshire Nov. 30...stopped 29 of 30 shots against Connecticut Jan. 24...made a career-high and a Hockey East season-high 53 saves at Providence Feb. 6...stopped 42 of 44 shots in a 3-2 win over Providence Feb. 7...recorded her eighth 30-plus save game Feb. 21 against BU, making 38 saves...stopped 35 of 37 shots in a 2-1 loss to BU in the Hockey East quarterfinals.

Before NU: Swiss national team goalie for the past five seasons...Swiss Woman of the Year in 2007...two-time Swiss MVP...competed at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy and three World Championships...in 2008 led the Swiss to a fourth-place finish at Worlds, the team's highest ever, and was the second-ranked goalie in the tournament...posted a 3-2-0 record and made 170 saves for a .919 save percentage and 2.95 goals against average...also recorded one shutout, one assist and one penalty...was the only goalie to play in every minute of every game including an overtime period and a shootout...made 29 saves in a 3-0 win over Germany...had 49 stops in a loss to Team USA and earned the sole assist on Switzerland's goal in that game...made history by defeating reigning Olympic silver medalist Sweden 4-3 in a shootout...recorded 28 saves in the game and did not allow a goal in the third and overtime periods or in the shootout...held Russia to just one goal on 34 shots to lead Switzerland to the bronze medal game for the first time ever...made 34 saves in a loss to Finland in the bronze medal game....in 2006 competed for Switzerland at the Olympic Games as the team finished seventh...posted a .939 save percentage and a 2.40 goals against average in three games...spent 2003-05 playing for the ZSC Lions...became the first and only woman to ever play in the Swiss Men's National B League.
