Biography
2019: As part of the fourth varsity, Gabrielle lead the boat to a win in the petite final, finishing in 7:50.10 at the Doc Hosea Invite (March 30) … Rowing in the varsity four ‘A’ boat, Campano helped the team win, passing BU and BC to finish in 7:59.11 at the Council Cup (April 6) … Maintaining the varsity four boat in control throughout its race, Northeastern defeated Columbia, finishing in only 8:25.3 at the Woodbury Cup (April 13) … Sat in the three seat as the second varsity recorded a time of 7:40.568 against Radcliffe and Yale (Apr. 27) … Sat three seat for the second varsity, finishing third (6:48.121) at the Eastern Sprints (May 5) … Was the five seat for the second varsity as they raced to a first-place time of 6:57.607 at the CAA Championships (May 19) … In the three seat, helped the second varsity place fifth in the C final with a time of 6:36.083, finishing 17th in the nation at the NCAA Championships (May 31-June 2).
2017: In the two seat, helped the novice eight to a seven-second victory at the Murphy Cup (Mar. 25) with a time of 6:51.60 … Sat in the three seat for the second varsity four at the Doc Hosea Invitational (Apr. 1-2), finishing third in the Grand Final with a time of 8:03.74 … Was the bow seat for the varsity four against Columbia (Apr. 8), finishing second at 7:50.25 … In the three seat, helped the second varsity four to a second place finish against Michigan State (Apr. 22) with a time of 7:33.270 … Sat in the six seat as the 3V captured the silver medal at the Eastern Sprints (Apr. 30) with a time of 7:29.98 in the Grand Final … Was the six seat for the third varsity at the CAA Championships (May 14), winning the race by three seconds with a time of 7:04.530.
Before NU: Spent two years rowing for the Saugatuck Rowing Club under head coach Gordon Getsinger. She won the U-19 eight at the U.S. Rowing Nationals last summer, and was a part of an undefeated Saugatuck Eight this fall, setting a course record at the Head of the Charles in the Youth 8 event. She plans to study health sciences at Northeastern.
Wilhelm says: "Despite her late start to competitive rowing we have identified in Gaby, the attributes which make great collegiate athletes. She is fiercely competitive, dedicated, resilient and has a passion for the sport of rowing."
