Conor McLaughlin joined Northeastern University Athletics in 2016 as Video Producer and was promoted to his current role as Assistant Director of Athletic Video Production in September of 2017. McLaughlin is in his fifth year as a member of the athletics staff.
McLaughlin helps to manage Northeastern Athletics’ multimedia team and assists with all department-wide multimedia and production initiatives. As Assistant Director, he produces, directs and engineers over 100 live events each year for Howlin’ Huskies Productions, including many broadcasts seen on NESN (New England Sports Network). With an active role in the department’s broadcasting and multimedia strategies, McLaughlin has been key in expanding the scope and reach of Northeastern’s productions and assists in the hiring and training process for a diverse broadcast team of 40-plus students, freelancers and on-air talent.
Since 2018 McLaughlin has led production on several key department initiatives: Tales of the Howlin’ Huskies, Northeastern’s award-nominated all-access television series, and the Howlin’ Huskies Awards, the department’s end-of-year awards show for student-athletes. In the midst of the global pandemic in 2020, the Howlin’ Huskies Awards were produced virtually on NESN for the first time.
McLaughlin also is instrumental in the filming, editing, and creation of engaging video content that enhances the athletics brand and connects viewers with Northeastern student-athletes and teams. He works closely with communications, marketing, and other members of the athletic department to create videos for Northeastern’s social media channels, broadcasts and videoboard show at Matthews Arena in Boston.
McLaughlin holds a Master of Science in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Dickinson College. Prior to graduating from Dickinson in 2016, McLaughlin was president of the Red Devils Sports Network and Sports Editor of the Dickinsonian Newspaper during his senior year.
A native of Milton, MA, McLaughlin currently lives in Boston.
