Joseph Carroll enters his first season as an assistant coach with Northeastern University in 2025-26. Carroll brings a decorated background as a student-athlete and coach, having competed at the NCAA Division II level and being an integral part of the most successful seasons in Assumption University program history.
Carroll captained Assumption’s cross country and track teams for two years, helping the Greyhounds achieve top conference and regional finishes in school history. Individually, he was a four-time All-Region performer, three-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection, and earned Academic All-Region and Academic All-Conference honors. He was the sole recipient of the 2025 Reverend Armand Desautels Memorial Award for his achievements in competition and the classroom.
Before joining Northeastern, Carroll served as an assistant coach at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Mass., where he fostered substantial growth and mentored more than 30 student-athletes in their athletic development. He also worked as a contributor for LetsRun.com, producing coverage and analysis of the collegiate and professional track seasons for an audience of over one million monthly readers.
A native of Cohasset, Mass., Carroll competed for Cohasset High School, where he was a member of the 2019 state champion cross country team.
