Matt Ells joined the Northeastern staff in 2009 and was named Senior Assistant Director for Athletic Operations in 2019. Ells helps run the day-to-day operations of all athletic facilities, including game day management.
Ells has spent more than a decade working in the athletic department at Northeastern. He has served in different capacities from Athletic Operations Supervisor (2009-11), Executive Assistant (2011-14) and Assistant Director of Athletic Operations and Facilities (2014-19). In these roles, he supervised planning and coordination of all varsity athletic venues on campus, managed game day protocols and served as the liaison between athletic and recreation department staff and university facility staff.
Ells also works part-time with the Boston Red Sox organization (2017-present) as a Ticketing Customer Service Representative. There he assists in management of player and VIP ticket will call, assists with player and VIP tickets and develops strategic relationships with players' families and friends.
