Joining Northeastern in January 2022 as Associate Athletic Director in Compliance and Enrollment Services, Masand is the liaison with both the Northeastern registar’s office, admissions, and the financial aid office. He also oversees the National Letter of Intent process and student-athletes in the NCAA transfer portal. Masand is also charged with the waivers and appeals process, as well as camps and clinics.
He is proficient in NCAA resources LSDBi, RSRO, CAi, and the compliance software ARMS. He is also in charge of filing all medical hardship/eligibility waivers, student-athlete reinstatement petitions, and institutional self-reported violations to NCAA and the Colonial Athletic Association. He conducts rules education curriculum for coaches, student athletes and administrators.
Prior to Northeastern, Masand was with the UMass Lowell athletic department for the last six years since joining the staff in the October of 2014. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance in July of 2019. Prior to that, he served as Director of NCAA Compliance for two years (2017-2019). Masand started in 2015 as a NCAA compliance coordinator.
He also served as a compliance and student services intern at UMass Lowell (2014-15) and also worked at Northeastern as a graduate compliance extern in 2013-14. Masand also worked as a legal immigration intern at New Hampshire Catholic Charities.
Masand earned his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 2010 with a degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. He also earned his juris doctorate from the UNH School of Law in 2014.
He and his wife, Swetha, reside in Cambridge, Mass.
