Margo Jones enters her third season this fall 2017 as the Northeastern women's volleyball assistant coach, bringing more than nine years of coaching experience to the Huskies’ volleyball staff.  Prior to joining joining the Red and Black (fall 2015), she served as an assistant coach at Emerson College for both the men’s and women’s programs.
Â
Before coaching the Lions in 2014, Jones was the head volleyball coach at Bates College. During her third season at Bates in 2013, she led the women’s team to its first NESCAC postseason appearance in five years. On top of advancing to the conference tournament that season, she also mentored the program’s first NESCAC Player of the Week since 2004. Successful at recruiting players from all over the country, Jones had 11 states represented on Bates’ 2014 roster.
Â
In 2010, Jones started and developed the first ever volleyball program at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia. As head coach, she acquired all equipment and apparel for the team’s inaugural season in addition to recruiting student-athletes across Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina.
Â
From 2008 to 2010, Jones was an assistant coach at Connecticut College, where she trained the setters as well as worked heavily with the middles. She helped guide a three-time All-Conference and ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection and played an active role in the program’s recruiting efforts.
Â
Since 2010, Jones has coached various programs within USA Volleyball High Performance, including the Select A2 Invitational Program as an associate head coach and the Select A1 National Training Team Program as an assistant coach. She has attended annual indoor and beach High Performance tryouts and also served as an assistant coach for three indoor programs during the summers of 2012 and 2013.
Â
Jones graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a teaching minor from Bowdoin College, where she was a four-year letterwinner. Named the team’s Rookie of the Year in 2004, she went on to captain the squad during her senior season en route to setting school records in career assists (3,215) and aces (191). Jones also received her master’s degree in secondary education from Eastern Connecticut State in 2010.Â
