The Northeastern women's soccer team showed immense resiliency as they bounced back from a one-goal deficit twice on Friday in Hockessin, Del., and defeated Delaware, 3-2.

The Huskies were outshot 12-8 in the first period of the contest, but nearly escaped unscathed. In the 40th minute, Delware's Ilyssa Friedman won a scramble in front of the goal and tapped a pass to Andrea Luttio, who beat Huskies keeper Michelle Sopko for her third goal of the year.

The Blue Hens advantage would be short-lived, as the Huskies came out in the second half firing on all cylinders. In the 54th minute, senior co-captain Kristen Blake was able to split a pair of Delaware defenders before firing the equalizer from 20 yards out. The goal was the first of the year for Blake.

Delaware was able to respond quickly, as Friedman headed in a corner from Leigh Victory in the 57th minute, giving the Blue Hens a 2-1 advantage.

The score would stay there for the next seventeen minutes, despite Northeastern blasting its way to a 15-3 shot advantage in the second half.

In the 74th minute, the Huskies were able to cash in, as sophomore Marcela Bedoya took a dish from preseason All-CAA sophomore Sandra Magnusdottir and blasted a shot past Delaware keeper Jessica Levy from 35 yards out to knot the match at two.

The goal was the first of Bedoya's career, but she was not done. In the 82nd minute, the Weston, Fla. native took a feed from junior forward Veronica Napoli, and went top shelf to beat Levy for the game-winner.

With the goal, Bedoya now has two on the season and in her career, as well as five points overall. Napoli's assist extends her point-streak to five matches.

Sopko started in net for the Huskies and recorded four saves to run her record as a starter to 7-2. Levy recorded ten saves for the Blue Hens.

The win for the Huskies moves them to 7-3 on the season and 2-1 in the CAA. Delaware falls to 5-6 (1-2 CAA).

The Huskies look to ride the momentum of their come from behind victory into their first home conference match on Sunday at Parsons Field, as they welcome Drexel to Brookline. Game time is set for 1 p.m. Live video of the contest will be available on GoNU.TV.
