Freshman forward
Katie MacSorley of the women's hockey team has been named Northeastern Student-Athlete of the week for Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
The women's hockey team opened up the 2010-11 season 1-0-1, and MacSorley was a big reason why the Huskies went unbeaten over the weekend. On Friday, MacSorley scored two straight goals to give Northeastern a 4-3 lead over Syracuse. She nearly had a hat trick in overtime, but a brilliant save from the Syracuse goaltender preserved a 4-4 tie.
MacSorley finished the weekend with a plus-1 rating and 10 total shots. In her first two games she has already shown a knack for the net and an ability to score goals at crucial moments.
The women's hockey team will be back on the ice on Saturday, Oct. 9 when the Huskies travel to Quinnipiac to battle the Bobcats. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m.
