Swiss Television Interview | MLP Cup Schedule

(Schelling's interview is with the television show, "Sportpanorama" on Swiss TV)

Junior goaltender Florence Schelling will be between the pipes for Team Switzerland in the MLP Cup, a six-team under-22 tournament held in Switzerland from Jan. 4-8.

Schelling is no stranger to international competition, as she started for the Swiss in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She guided her home country to a fifth-place finish, the nation's best ever result in the Olympics.

The hosts will have a stern test to open the tournament, as Team Canada, the defending MLP Cup champions, will be Switzerland's first opponent.

The tournament will cap off a busy beginning to 2011. Schelling played in both of the Huskies' games in the Easton Holiday Showcase on Jan. 1-2. She made a season-high 39 saves to lead Northeastern past St. Cloud State, 2-1, on Jan. 2.

Schelling has garnered plenty of attention for her play recently, as she was a guest on the Swiss television show “Sportpanorama” on Dec. 19. Video of her appearance is included at the top of the page.

The MLP Cup will end just in time for the Huskies as Northeastern returns to action on Jan. 9 when it travels to New Hampshire to face off against the Wildcats in a Hockey East contest. The puck is scheduled to drop at 2 p.m.
