Women's soccer was tripped up on the road against UNC Wilmington on Friday night, 3-0. The Huskies are now 8-8-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the CAA on the season.
The two sides combined for just four shots in the first 20 minutes of play, before the Seahawks of UNCW scored in a spurt.
Midfielder Kim Currie put home a shot from the top of the box off a run in the 22nd minute. Currie beat goalkeeper
Paige Burnett to the left side. The goal was Currie's third of the year, assisted by Lindsay Henry.
Just four minutes later, the Seahawks struck again. Forward Stephanie Rose sliced a shot under Burnett from 25 yards out for her third marker of the season, also assisted by Lindsay Henry.
Rose put UNC Wilmington up, 3-0, just two minutes after her first marker when she took a crossing feed in the box from Currie and buried it in the upper right corner.
Despite a second half run in which Northeastern registered nine shots in ten minutes, including a shot off the post by freshman
Lahaina Zoller, the Huskies could not come back from the early deficit.
The Huskies outshot UNC Wilmington, 19-12, but Seahawk goalkeeper Caitlin Hunter made 10 saves on the night, stifling Northeastern's opportunities.
Forward
Greta Samuelsdottir led Northeastern with six shots, followed by
Hanna Terry with five.
Northeastern returns to action on Sunday at 11 a.m. when they take on the Georgia State Panthers in Atlanta, Ga.
