Box Score
Lori Antflick notched the game-tying goal with 9:23 remaining in the second stanza and
Florence Schelling made 23 saves to preserve a 1-1 draw at Connecticut on Sunday afternoon.
Schelling's biggest stop came when she turned aside a Kelly Horan penalty shot just 22 seconds into the third period. The tie locked the Huskies into the fifth seed and ensures that Northeastern will return to Storrs, Conn. next Saturday at 1 p.m. for a date with UConn in the Hockey East Quarterfinals.
Northeastern put 44 shots on goal, 43 of which were saved by Alexandra Garcia. It is the second-highest shot total of the season for the Huskies, who fired 46 shots on goal against Brown on Nov. 28.
Connecticut struck first when Sami Evelyn tallied an unassisted goal, her fifth of the season, at the 11:35 mark of the first frame.
Halfway through the second period, Antflick brought the Huskies back to level terms. She took a feed from sophomore forward
Siena Falino and beat Garcia for her seventh goal of the season. For Falino, it was her 13th helper of the year. It is also the third time this season that Antflick has scored to send a game to overtime. It's also the second time that Falino has assisted on such a goal by Antflick..
Northeastern dictated much of the play in the final frame and registered 15 shots on goal, all of them turned aside. Connecticut mustered just seven shots on goal as well as the penalty shot that Schelling saved.
This is the second straight season that Northeastern and Connecticut will meet in the Hockey East quarterfinals after facing each other to close out the regular season. Last year, Northeastern hosted UConn in the quarterfinals after taking all four points from the Huskies in a home-and-home series to end the season.
Puck drop for next Saturday's game at UConn is set for 1 p.m.
