WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Led by sophomore
Stephen Sollowin's 10th place finish overall, the Northeastern men's cross country team finish third at the 2012 CAA Championship on Saturday in Williamsburg, Va. The NU women's team, meanwhile, finished 8th, led by
Danielle Klein's 31st place finish.
This marks the third straight season that the men's squad has finished in third, the best since the program joined the CAA in 2005. Sollowin clocked in with a time of 25:16.10 on the 8k course to earn All-CAA honors.
William & Mary won the team championship after placing five of its harriers in the top-10, edging George Mason by six points. Sollowin has closely followed by Zachary Fraeilli, who took 13th overall 25:25.20 while freshman
Wesley Gallagher clocked in with a time of 25:52.80, good for a 20th place finish.
John Jantz (24th; 25:57.80) and
Allen Meringolo (27th; 26:25.40) also competed for the Huskies.
Klein led the women's squad for the fourth straight race, finishing the 6k course in 31st with a time of 23:03.20.
Noelene Power was next to cross the finish for NU in 60th place overall (24:28.60) while
Eryn Wheeler was in 64th at 24:41.40.
William & Mary won the team title for the 18th time in program history, besting James Madison by eight points.
Lauren Wardwell (66th; 24:51.60) and
Jocelyn Hubbard (70th; 25:10.40) also contributed to the team finish for the Huskies.
Northeastern will return to the trails for the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 10 in Hempstead, Conn.
