A message of thanks to Northeastern fans

Northeastern Director of Athletics Peter Roby took time recently to thank Huskies fans and student groups for their continued, dedicated support of Northeastern Athletics.

In the video message to fans, Roby expresses his appreciation, as well as that of the department's student-athletes and coaches, for the support the teams have received through the fall and winter sports seasons. He notes the contributions of student fans--including the DogHouse and the N Zone--in creating a decided home advantage at hockey, basketball and volleyball games. He also expresses thanks to those fans who traveled to Richmond for the men's basketball tournament, to Hyannis for the women's Hockey East playoffs, to Walter Brown Arena to cheer the women's hockey team to the Beanpot title, and to TD Garden to once again make the Northeastern section the Beanpot's largest and loudest.

Roby commends the contributions of the pep band, noting that "the band has been phenomenal under the direction of John Leonard." He thanks the dance team and cheerleaders for their hard work and for the incredible contributions they make to the game-day environment.

Of the upcoming spring season, he notes that "we expect lots of great performances from our teams and our individual athletes going into the spring." Speaking directly to Northeastern's dedicated fans, Roby says "we want to encourage you to come out and root for those teams and show your support for them as they work through their schedules this spring and represent Northeastern."

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to support Northeastern teams in the coming weeks. Baseball welcomes Central Connecticut State to Friedman Diamond today (Tuesday, March 20). The Diamond Dogs also have an upcoming home date with Boston College (March 27) as well as a weekend series with VCU (March 30, 31 and April 1). Women's rowing will take to the Charles River this weekend, on Saturday, March 24, to compete in the Beanpot against Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and MIT. The team will also be home next weekend (March 31) to face Columbia and Dartmouth. Fans will have their first opportunity to see men's rowing at home on April 7 as it competes for the Arlett Cup against rival Boston University. And track fans can catch the men's and women's teams in action this weekend (March 24) as they host the Husky Spring Open at Solomon Track in Dedham.
