Wesley Gallagher finished seventh overall at the 19th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions on Saturday. Freshman
Lucy Young led the Northeastern women's cross country team with an eighth place finish, closing the 6k with a mark of 22:54.18. The NU men's squad, which finished the 8k race seventh as a team, was led by Gallagher's time of 25:43.15.
"Overall, I thought the team was able to get a great preview of what the NCAA East Regional Championships will be like," said distance coach Matt Longergan. "We were able to test our fitness on a uniquely challenging course. Now we will go back to work to prepare for our next visit to the Bronx."
Jordan O'Dea was the next to clock in for the women, crossing at 23:43.80 and finishing 28th overall.
Danielle Klein and
Jocelyn Hubbard followed, finishing with times of 23:58.75 and 24:08.37, respectively.
On the men's field, Zachary Fraeilli (21st; 26:13.45) and Zach Krause (32nd; 26:27.16) posted top-35 performances and contributed to Northeastern's team finish.
The Northeastern cross country teams will compete at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by cross-town rival Boston College, next weekend on Friday, Sept. 27.
