BOSTON—Sophomore
Wesley Gallagher finished eleventh overall at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown BC Eagles Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Northeastern men's squad, which finished the 8k fifth as a team, was led by Gallagher's time of 24:23.
"We are very encouraged by how the teams raced today, especially after knocking off some regionally ranked teams," said cross country director
Cathrine Erickson.
Gallagher has led NU in every meet this season, including a first place finish at the Nassaney Invitational.
Stephen Sollowin clocked in next for the Huskies, crossing 21st overall with a mark of 24:45, followed by
Zachary Fraielli who cracked the top-25 at 25:00 (24th). Zach Krause (40th, 25:21),
Charles Conway (84th, 26:12) and
Jason Lange (84th, 26:17) also ran for NU, finishing in the top-100.Â
No. 12 Oregon claimed the team title in the men's field with 22 points, followed by No. 9 Syracuse who took silver with 69 points. On the women's side (5k), No. 1 Providence ran away with the team title with a total of 50 points.Â
Lucy Young led the Huskies, for the second week in a row, to a 12th place team finish after crossing 35th with a time of 18:06.
Jocelyn Hubbard was the next in line, finishing 82nd (18:56).
"We had a host of great performances and I am extremely happy with how people competed on an individual and team basis," Erickson said.Â
The men's and women's cross country teams return to action when they begin post season competition at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 12.Â
