BOSTON -- Northeastern women's hockey alumna Katy Augustyn '07 will represent the United States at the upcoming IRB Women's Rugby World Cup in France on Aug. 1-17. Augustyn was one of 26 players named to the national team roster, which was announced on July 8.

A native of Antigo, Wisconsin, Augustyn competed for the Huskies as a goaltender from 2002-06 and posted a 5-2-0 career record with three shutouts, a 2.81 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Augustyn was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month in November 2003, and earned 'Distinguished Scholar' honors from the conference after posting a 3.0 GPA or better in all four varsity seasons.

After exhausting her ice hockey eligibility in 2006, Augustyn joined the Northeastern women's rugby club team for a season, before continuing her career on the professional circuit. Augustyn currently plays for the Berkeley All Blues Women's Rugby Club, based out of Berkeley, California.

The 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup consists of 12 teams drawn into three pools of four squads apiece. Augustyn and Team USA will compete in Pool B with Ireland, Kazakhstan and four-time defending World Cup champion New Zealand. The winner of each pool, plus the best second-place team will advance to the semifinal round, while the remaining eight teams will compete for places 5-12.

The Americans open pool play against Ireland on Aug. 1 in Marcoussis, France.
