Goal Recaps• Coyne put the Huskies on top 1-0 with 1:12 remaining in the first period. After taking a feed from sophomore
Denisa Krizova in the neutral zone, Coyne skated in with speed before tucking a shot through the legs of Merrimack netminder Chaislyn Burgio from the left slot.
• Coyne doubled the lead just seven seconds into the middle frame after stealing the disc from a Merrimack defenseman off the opening faceoff, and sliding a shot inside the left post.Â
• The Warriors pulled a goal back at 1:40 of the period when Baye Flanagan ripped a shot over the glove of
Brittany Bugalski (15 saves) from the top of the right circle.
• Northeastern regained its two-goal cushion 37 seconds later when sophomore
Taytum Clairmont played a perfect cross-crease pass to Masters for a one-timer at the right post.
• Just over a minute later, the puck was in the Merrimack net yet again as Coyne skated behind the Warriors net and slipped a feed into the slot for Mottau to fire home at the 3:36 mark.
• Northeastern tacked on a fourth second-period goal at 13:49 when Savage banged home a rebound at the left of the cage following a wrister by Mottau.Â
• After Merrimack pulled within 5-2 with 4:18 remaining, NU scored three times in a span of two minutes to establish an 8-2 lead. Coyne completed the hat trick at 16:22 with a rebound at the right of the net to make it 6-2.Â
• Brand then pushed the lead to 7-2 with another goal off a rebound, this time following a Savage shot at 17:16.
• Anderson made it 8-2 when she crashed the net following a dump-in by sophomore
Shelby Herrington, and stashed home the loose puck at the left of the cage.
• Merrimack converted on its only power play of the night at 19:48 to make it 8-3 on a shot by Jackie Pieper.Â
