BOSTON – Led by
Ayanna Dublin's first career double-double, the Northeastern women's basketball team battled back to erase its 11-point, first half deficit against Fordham on Sunday at Cabot Center, icing the game at the free throw line late to earn the hard-fought, 58-54 victory.

Dublin's layup with 2:33 remaining in regulation allowed Northeastern (2-0) to break the game's fifth and final tied score, supplying NU with the 48-46 lead. From there, the Huskies' defense forced Fordham (1-1) into three straight missed shots and a turnover to establish a five-point advantage before NU closed the game by converting 10 of its last 12 free throw attempts.

Pacing Northeastern in points (14), rebounds (11) and assists (four), Dublin earned the Huskies' first double-double of the season, shooting six-for-nine from the field.
Shannon Todd followed Dublin's scoring lead with 12 points while
Jess Genco and
Gabby Giacone tallied eight points apiece.

Katie May brought down seven rebounds for Northeastern's cause, helping the Huskies sport a +4 margin in the category.
Stella Clark added eight points, four rebounds and four assists as well.

Fordham kept NU without a point during the final five minutes of the first quarter as the Rams carried their 16-7 lead into the second stanza, where Kendell Heremaia's opening bucket gave the visitors their largest lead of the game (18-7) with 9:01 remaining in the half.

Mary Goulding paired 15 points with 12 rebounds to lead Fordham while Bre Cavanaugh notched 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.
