BOSTON – Putting its undefeated record on the line once more, the Northeastern women's basketball team found the way to distance itself early from Air Force on Saturday as NU collected the 54-41 victory at Cabot Center, improving its season-opening record to 5-0.

Jess Genco led the Huskies' cast of scorers, combining a game high, 16 points, with four steals. Ayanna Dublin coupled 12 points with six rebounds and three assists while rookie starter Katie May contributed eight points – six of which were earned behind the arc – two assists, a block and a steal.

Northeastern (5-0) outgained the Falcons, 26-18, in the paint, despite ending the day on the short end of the rebounding margin (-3) for the first time this season. Shannon Todd led NU on the glass with eight rebounds, while Stella Clark and Alexis Hill hauled in seven boards apiece.

Entering the day ranked third in the CAA in both scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, the Huskies limited Air Force (3-3) to a season low, 14 first half points, carrying the 34-14 lead into the intermission. NU shot 57 percent from the field during the first two quarters against the Falcons' mark of 20 percent.

Although Northeastern preserved its 20-point lead through the end of the third quarter (45-25), Air Force rode a 13-2 scoring run to start the final period, despite being unable to cut the Huskies' lead any lower than nine points (47-38) with 3:10 remaining in regulation.

Emily Conroe was the Falcons' lone player to finish her scoring in double figures, tallying 13 points, four rebounds, three steals and a block.

Both teams set season highs in turnovers; Northeastern committed 26 turnovers while Air Force registered 27. Points off turnovers stood in the Huskies' favor at 19-14.
