SYRACUSE, N.Y.
– The Northeastern men's basketball team was able to keep Syracuse close through most of the first half, but a 9-0 run to close the stanza put things just out of range for the Huskies, who fell to the Orange 72-49 Tuesday night at the Carrier Dome.

Offensive rebounds were the name of the game, with Syracuse garnering 15 to the Huskies' seven and utilizing those for 19 second chance points, to Northeastern's eight. Overall the Orange outrebounded Northeastern 49-23.

The Huskies were able to hold Cuse's leading scorer Tyus Battle to just one basket for two points as he was 1-of-7 from the field and 0-of-4 from deep on the night. Oshae Brissett led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds while Elijah Hughes finished with 17 points for the Orange.

Northeastern was led by Tomas Murphy, who despite picking up two quick fouls in the first half, finished with a team-high 17 points, while also pulling down eight rebounds on the night. Donnell Gresham also added double-digit scoring, finishing with 10 points thanks to three deep threes, while dishing out three assists and coming up with a pair of steals.

FIRST HALF
Syracuse started things off on a 7-0 run, but behind three-straight treys, one from NBA range by Donnell Gresham and a pair from Jordan Roland, including an and-one, the Huskies gained their first lead of the half, 12-10.

The two teams were bucket for bucket in the midst of the first half, but the Orange finished the first half on a 9-0 run, keeping the Huskies off the board for the final 3:57 of play to take a 35-23 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF
The Huskies started the second half off with a couple of baskets, matching Syracuse's pair on the other end, but Northeastern couldn't get much going as Syracuse jumped out to a 16-point lead, 59-33 at the under-12 media.

The Orange grew that lead to 20 at the under-8 media before the Orange came away with the 72-49 victory.
