Frankel stopped 13 shots in the first period, eight in the second stanza, and 13 more in the third as Vermont held a 34-28 advantage in attempts on goal. The Briarcliff Manor, New York, native now has three shutouts in her rookie season.
Pettey was credited with the game-winning goal late in the first period when she sniped the top right corner from the right faceoff dot following a turnover caused by
Tori Sullivan in the neutral zone.
The Huskies will be back in action on Sunday in the regular season finale at Providence at 2 p.m. Northeastern currently occupies the fourth and final home-ice slot for the WHEA playoffs, one point ahead of the New Hampshire Wildcats.
