BOSTON – Two goals from Tori Sullivan and 21 saves from Aerin Frankel paved the way for the Northeastern women's ice hockey team (17-16-3), which advanced to the Hockey East semifinals for the eighth straight season after a 2-1 victory over New Hampshire (14-15-7) in the conference quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
 
Northeastern, the host site for next weekend's WHEA Championship, will take on an opponent to be determined on Saturday, Mar. 3. Tickets to both semifinal games and the championship game are currently available by visiting tickets.GoNU.com.
 
Sullivan carried the load for the Huskies offensively, notching her ninth and 10 goals of the season, while Frankel and the Northeastern defense did their jobs at the other end, holding the Wildcats to just 22 shots on goal.
 
NU struck first midway through the opening frame when Sullivan cashed in on the power play after the Huskies meticulously moved the puck around the attacking zone before Denisa Krizova (two assists) threaded a pass down to a waiting Sullivan on the doorstep for the tap-in past UNH netminder Ava Boutilier (34 saves).
 
The lead was short lived, though, as New Hampshire knotted the game at one less than a minute later when Nicole Dunbar's shot towards the cage deflected off a Husky and past Frankel.
 
Sullivan put the hosts back on top 71 seconds into the middle frame with her second of the game, banging home a rebound off a shot from McKenna Brand at the right side.
 
The Northeastern defense took over from there, limiting UNH to just 12 shots over the final 40 minutes and killing off three penalties to secure the victory.
