XC Battles 28 teams on their home turf

The men's and women's teams competed at Franklin Park on Friday afternoon

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the sixth annual Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park. The race was hosted by cross-town rival, Boston College and included 28 teams from across the country.

The women kicked off the event with a 5k race and nine Howlin' Huskies competed. Up against tough competition, with Abbey Wheeler from Providence finishing in 17:09.7, the Huskies placed 22nd on the final results list with an average time of 19:17 and 649 points.
 
Louiza Wise paced the Huskies, finishing with a time of 18:38.7 and behind her sat Camila Cortina with a time of 18:54.4.
 
The men took to competing in an 8k race along the same course. Senior Dan Romano led the Husky pack finishing with a time of 25:03.8. As a whole, the men's team finished 17th at the battle, with an average time of 25:41 and 445 points.
