HARRISONBURG, Va. - Competing during its third top 15 mid-major battle of the season, the Northeastern women's basketball team was unable to match the fiery offense of James Madison during the final three quarters of Sunday's CAA game as the Huskies were handed the 84-49 defeat by the Dukes at the Convocation Center.
Gabby Giacone led Northeastern (12-3, 2-2 CAA) in both points (15) and rebounds (six) while her fellow senior,
Jess Genco, totaled 13 points, three rebounds and two assists. Giacone shot seven-for-nine at the free throw line while Genco accounted for three of the Huskies' six perimeter makes.
NU and James Madison (12-3, 4-0 CAA) shot 50 and 57 percent from the field, respectively, during the competitive first quarter that ended with the Dukes in front, 29-23.Â
Lexie Barrier finished with 24 points to lead JMU, which hit 13 3-point field goals during the afternoon.
