PHILADELPHIA— Five different players found the back of the net, as the Northeastern women's soccer team defeated the Drexel Dragons, 5-0. Following the win and other scenarios playing out across the CAA, the Huskies clinched a spot in the conference tournament, with final seeding to be determined based on Sunday's results. Â
Â
Chelsea Domond,
Kayla McCauley and
Olivia Ware each had multi-point efforts as they all recorded a goal and an assist on the night.
Mikenna McManus and
Kerri Zerfoss claimed the other two goals for the Huskies.Â
Â
Northeastern (7-9-1, 4-3-1) scored three goals in the first half as Zerfoss got things started in the 5th minute, with Ware and McManus following suit. Ware's goal was her fifth goal in five matches, as she continues to be a major scoring threat for the Huskies.
Â
In the second half, the Huskies scored two goals just over a minute apart to claim the eventual 5-0 victory over Drexel (5-9-3, 1-6-1 CAA). Domond fired off a rocket and
Kayla McCauley followed it up soon after with a goal of her own off a brilliant
Tatiana Ortega cross, to close out the scoring for the Huskies.
Â
Megan Adams notched two saves and claimed her fourth shout out of the season in the victory. The Huskies will make their ninth consecutive CAA tournament appearance- the longest active streak among league members.
