BROOKLINE, Mass.— Freshman goalkeeper
Angeline Friel stepped up in a big way on Thursday evening at Parsons Field, notching 11 saves as the Northeastern women's soccer secured a valuable CAA point against Hofstra in a 2-2 draw.
Northeastern (4-7-1, 1-1-1 CAA) started the scoring early in the first half as
Kerri Zerfoss got on the board in the fourth minute.
Chelsea Domond lifted the ball into the air and Zerfoss's shin just deflected it wide past the keeper to put the Huskies up 1-0.
Domond wasn't done with her night as she put the Huskies up 2-0 in the 10th minute of action, taking on a defender and the Hofstra keeper to score on the far-left side.
Hofstra (8-3-1, 2-0-1) evened the score in the 24th as Lucy Shepherd scored for the Pride to put the score at 2-1. The Pride found their equalizer in the second half as Anja Suttner headed home a goal to tie things up.
The match then headed to the Huskies' sixth overtime match of the season, but neither side was able to find the game-winner.
Angeline Friel ended the day with 11 saves and recorded the tie in 110 minutes of action.
